I've come to believe security is more valuable than performance. You don't need to become a player. You need to stop confusing confidence with emotional detachment, and stop confusing kindness with passivity. Those two mix-ups account for a surprising amount of romantic frustration.

Confidence matters, but emotional detachment is not the answer to anxiety. We work toward self-possession, warmth and the ability to lead without controlling—and to choose a woman who is genuinely compatible with you.
